GameBrains was established on August 1st, 1998 as a private limited corporation between Americans Brett Bibby and Randy Gocke, and Malaysian investors C.L. Wong and K.C. Foo. The founders saw an opportunity to develop games for the Nintendo Game Boy Color and using that as an entry point into the game development industry. GameBrains was able to secure a development agreement to develop titles for Midway, Inc., a market-leading publisher. GameBrains initially remade the classic Atari arcade game of the early eighties known as "720° Skateboarding". This game was well known for its original gameplay and was a substantial achievement to get this project.
Following the success of 720° Skateboarding, GameBrains completed development of their second title a few months later which was another remake of an early eighties Atari classic called "Paperboy" in April 1999. Paperboy is a high quality game that shows a glimpse of GameBrains' capabilities. This game was officially released during E3 1999 and was shown at the Midway booth. Paperboy has received many great reviews and was voted 4th in the Game Boy Classic Arcade Conversion or Remake of the Century on the IGN website.
After the successful launch of Paperboy, GameBrains expanded their staff and began development of NFL Blitz 2000 and Marble Madness. Both are currently available in stores and NFL Blitz 2000 is one of the top selling sports game in North America.
Currently GameBrains is working on their two biggest titles ever for two of the largest publishers in the world who both have recognized GameBrains ability to ship high quality titles.
In recognition for their achievements of a world-class high technology company, the Malaysian government has granted GameBrains Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Status. A company with MSC Status is tax exempted in addition to other benefits (www.mdc.com.my) and this will help GameBrains further establish themselves as a leader.
