Jellyvision began in 1989, a zany band of kooky kids with a crazy dream that folks called "nutty." "Build a robot that reads minds and shoots death rays?" the cynics said. "It'll never work." It turned out they were right.
So in 1991, under the name Learn Television, we released the award-winning educational film "The Mind's Treasure Chest™."
Following this early success, the company came to a crossroads. A key decision about our future had to be made: Should we (a) move beyond film to create a more interactive learning experience using new multimedia technology, or (b) build a giant computer that would steal the souls of children and turn them into zombie slaves? Well, obviously we didn't choose the latter. If we did, we'd be stupid to give away the secret in our web site.
So we joined with Follett Software Company for the 1996 release of THAT'S A FACT, JACK!® Read. TFJ is a reading-motivation CD-ROM game show series covering young adult fiction. And it doesn't turn kids into zombies. Really, it doesn't.
While we were developing TFJ to help kids read, we, along with the folks at Berkeley Systems, had a thought: Perhaps it would be nice to do something for people who have already learned to read and who can also name at least one of Fonzie's girlfriends. Thus was born YOU DON'T KNOW JACK®, the Irreverent Quiz Show Party Game Where High Culture and Pop Culture Collide, etc., etc. With over 35 awards in the interactive industry, more than 10 products in the YOU DON'T KNOW JACK line around the globe and our own big fat TV show due out soon, we have made significant progress toward our ultimate goal of world domination.
