HOW TO PLAY THE SONY PLAYSTATION GAME “BATTLESPORT"

• Press the START BUTTON on CONTROLLER 1 to raise the MAIN MENU.
• If your selection from the MAIN MENU is INSTANT ACTION, press the X BUTTON to raise the OPPONENT SCREEN and begin the game.
• If your selection from the MAIN MENU is INSTANT ACTION SETUP, press the X BUTTON to advance to the INSTANT ACTION SETUP SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad to highlight and select the desired number of PLAYERS, an OPPONENT and ARENA then use the directional pad to highlight NAME ENTRY and press the X BUTTON to advance to the NAME ENTRY SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad and the X BUTTON to enter your name then use the directional pad to highlight END and press the X BUTTON to begin the game.
• If your selection from the MAIN MENU is I or II PLAYER EXHIBITION, press the X BUTTON to advance to the NAME ENTRY SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad and the X BUTTON to enter your name then use the directional pad to highlight END and press the X BUTTON to advance to the GAME OPTIONS SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad and the X BUTTON to select the desired ARENA, GAME TYPE, GAME WINNING SCORE (PLAY TO), EQUIPMENT STORE (when this option is on, you can use your winnings to purchase power up items and upgrades for your tank at the EQUIPMENT STORE), and SHOT CLOCK.
• Once you have completed your selections press the START BUTTON to advance to the OPPONENT SELECTION SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad to cycle through and select your opponent then press the START BUTTON to advance to the TANK STORE.
• Use the directional pad to cycle through and select the desired tank then press the START BUTTON to advance to the EQUIP YOUR TANK SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad and the X BUTTON to highlight and select three items then press the START BUTTON to begin the game. If your selection from the MAIN MENU is TOURNAMENT, press the X BUTTON to raise the NAME ENTRY SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad and the X BUTTON to enter you name then use the directional pad to highlight END and press the X BUTTON to advance to the OPPONENT SCREEN. Once you have finished studying your opponent, press the START BUTTON to advance to the PRE-GAME SCREEN.
• Use the directional pad and the X BUTTON to BUY A NEW TANK then use the directional pad to highlight PLAY NEXT GAME and press the X BUTTON to begin the game.

PLAYING THE GAME

• SHIELD METERS, the NAMES and SCORES for each player appear on the top left and right corners of the screen.
• The RADAR SCOPE appears on the top center section of the screen.
• When your team has possession of the ball, a POSSESSION METER appears on the bottom left corner of the screen. The SHOT CLOCK appears on the bottom right corner of the screen.
• Once a battle starts, your objective is to capture the ball and shoot it into the goal. Of course, your opponent will do his best to beat you to the goal, inflicting as much damage upon your tank as possible in the process.
• There are 1, 2, and 4 sided goals. Some spin, some are above the ground, some are spinning above the ground, some move, some teleport, and some are a combination of all of the above.
• The ball appears on your RADAR SCOPE as a yellow blip.
• At the INVENTORY SHOP you can purchase a slew of inventory items that will dramatically increase the efficiency of your tank and your chances of winning.
• Power up items you may purchase are
• ADD PERIOD (adds one more period to the game),
• ADVANCED TARGET (adds homing/tracking missiles),
• BALL ATTRACT (makes the ball come to you),
• BALL GUIDANCE (helps your shot find the goal),
• BASIC TARGETER (helps locate the ball and the goal),
• BLIND ENEMY (temporarily blinds your opponents tank),
• DOUBLE DAMAGE (doubles the damage inflicted upon your opponent),
• ECM (confuses missiles targeting systems of your opponent),
• FLIGHT (lets you take to the sky by holding down the L1 & R1 BUTTONS),
• FREEZE GOAL (stops the goal from moving),
• FUMBLING MISSILES (makes your opponent drop the ball),
• GOAL SHIELD (blocks your opponent's shots),
• HEAVY LASER (most powerful laser that recharges instantly),
• INSTANT FUMBLE (forces your opponent to fumble the ball),
• INVISIBILITY (makes you invisible for a brief period of time),
• MEDIUM LASERS, MISSILE ATTACHMENT (adds additional missile bays to your tank),
• RADAR JAMMING (confuses your opponent's radar),
• SUPER MISSILE, SUPER TARGETER and TIME ADDITION (adds one minute to the current game clock),
• FUMBLE PROTECTION (stops fumbles, shot clock violations for 90 seconds),
• SUPER SPEED (increases top speed significantly for 90 seconds),
• SUPER SIGHT (allows user to see cloaked objects for indefinite period of time), and
• SUPER SHIELDING (reduces damage by one half and lasts for an indefinite period of time).

Power up items that are scattered about each arena are

• BALL ATTRACT (brings the ball to you),
• BALL GUIDANCE (brings your shot closer to the goal),
• BLIND ENEMY, CASH (needed to purchase inventory items),
• DOUBLE DAMAGE (doubles the destructive power of your weapon),
• FLIGHT (takes you airborne),
• FUMBLE PROTECTION, HEALTH (replenishes your SHIELD METER),
• INVINCIBILITY, INVISIBILITY, SHIELDING, SPEED, STABILIZER (prevents incoming missiles from throwing you across the entire arena) and TURBO LASERS (recharge lasers instantly).
• Once you have the ball, you have a limited amount of time in which to take a shot (if you fail to shoot before the SHOT CLOCK runs down, you will lose possession of the ball and be penalized).
• If you are hit by enemy weapons fire your SHIELD METER will diminish. When the SHIELD METER is completely depleted you tank will self-destruct.
• There are three periods in the game. The team that has the most points at the end of the third period is the winner.
• At the end of each game, the GAME STATS are posted (SCORE, SHOTS ON GOAL, SHOT ACCURACY, etc.).
