Description
There's more significance in the name FIFA 2000 than just the year. FIFA 2000 is truly the soccer game of a new millenium, and it has huge improvements over FIFA 99. The most obvious improvement is the addition of the 12 MLS teams to the already large roster of countless other leagues. Now fans of American soccer can pit their favorite US teams against each other, or even against the superior world teams. FIFA 2000 also introduces a few important gameplay additions that provide so much added depth to the game you'll wonder how you ever got through FIFA 99 without them. Mirroring popular football and baseball games on the market today, FIFA 2000 introduces icon passing from penalty locations. This makes it much easier to assist would-be strikers from the corners - with a button press you can guide a corner kick directly to your man inside the box, who is waiting to head the ball home. |

Good game, May 3, 2000 |
Reviewer: A gamer from Los Angeles
Fifa 2000 isnt the greatest soccer game I have ever played, but it is really good it has many different leagues including: england, scotland, germany, italy, france, spain, ect. If you are a MLS fan you will be disapointed they do not have the actual league, they have the teams, but no league. I hope I can give fifa 01 a five. |

Fun gameplay, turn off the sound, June 13, 2000 |
Reviewer: A gamer from El Segundo, CA
I have enjoyed FIFA2K for the past 8 months. It's fun gameplay, and has a lot of opportunities to modify the teams, leagues, and tournaments, as well as camera angles and on-screen information. The gameplay is pretty good, but don't allow the computer to have a corner kick or a free kick near the box.
My recommendation if you purchase this is turn off the commentator and music sound, and put Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke up front in a 3-5-2 formation.
I wish that the national teams were as modifiable as the club teams. I think that the English side has a bunch of players that aren't up to snuff.

One star out of pity. Someone should be fired., June 26, 2000 |

This is the worst sports video game I have ever played. I had come to expect high quality merchandise from EA sports. Now I am beginning to wonder of this is the beginning of a string of sub-par products. If you have enjoyed playing EA games, specifically FIFA soccer, in the past, you will be very disappointed. The graphics are just awful and the game play is terrible, too. This is not watered-down NHL hockey with scores of 7-5 every night. EA also promises MLS soccer and then doesn't provide league play ability. Only exhibition matches. The World Cup format is confining and confusing. And the rosters for many national teams are just plain wrong.
I understand the PC version may be better, but I'm returning my copy of the game and waiting until next year. Check that. This may be my last EA purchase unless I hear good things about their upcoming games. I don't remember feeling this ripped off about a purchase in my life. Please, please, if you know the game of soccer and have enjoyed FIFA in the past, don't waste your money on this game. You will wonder why you tossed perfectly good money down the drain. For those paning down on the screen, I'll sum it up again for you: AWFUL! |

this is without a doubt the best fifa game that ea sports has made. the controls are superb and the moves make you feel like you are at a real game. I suggest this game to anyone that likes soccer and particularly to anyone who loves the MLS |

FIFA 2000 is the best video game I own. I gave this game 5 out of 5 stars. The controls are very easy and acurate. I find the Professional mode of play the best, because it gives you the gamer a callenge but not as hard as the World Class mode of play. The World Class mode calls for extremely quick ball control and passing. Each team and player are created very well according to their talents. The best part about this game, not taking anything away from the rest of the game are creating your own player. I play this game about 7-14 hours a week. All lover's of soccer should have this game in their home. |
FIFA at its best, July 29, 2000 |
Reviewer: A 12-year old gamer from Christchurch, New Zealand
The is almost definatly the best game I have ever played.I thought the graphics were brilliant and very reallistic. If you enjoy soccer this is the game for you, it is a huge improvement of the 98 and 99 FIFA games. It has about every team you can think of plus some more, the teams include all the international teams (even New Zealand! ) plus all the club teams from all the countries with decent club teams eg. England, Italy, Brazil, France and many more. It also had a lot of teams I have never heard of before! Other than the present day teams it has about 15 classic teams, these are teams at there absolute best like Brazil from 1970 and Argentina from 1978. If you are a soccer fan I would defiatly reccomend this game for you, if you are not a soccer fan but enjoy Playstation I would definatly reccomend this game for you, even if you are not a soccer fan and are not a playstation fan either I would still reccomend this game for you. This is a great game and I give it a 20 out of 10! |
Improved Gameplay, But What Happened to the Announcers |
September 6, 2000
Reviewer: An Amazon.com Customer from Glenside, PA USA
I loved Fifa 98! Fifa 99 was a disappointment! And Fifa 2000 falls somewhere in between.
The graphics and gameplay had a noticeable improvement. The soundtrack to the game was amazing, just as in prior releases. Especially, the opening sequence (Robbie Williams - It's Only Us). However, I was disappointed with a number of things.
First, not all the countries and country leagues were represented. For example, Portugal which almost won the European Cup is not even one of the available teams. In the previous two versions, it was possible not only to pick Portugal, but also to play with one of the teams in the Portuguese league.
Second, what happened to the announcer? This is not a rip on Judie Fallon, but I liked the commentary combination in the previous games much better. I think that Judie's commentary would have been much more appreciated in a separate game targeted directly towards women's soccer.
Despite the dislikes, I would definitely recommend purchasing this game. The gameplay itself and soundtrack make it the best soccer game around, especially for its listed price.

Disappointed, December 29, 2001 |
Reviewer: Milen Pentchev from Charleston, SC, USA
I really liked FIFA1999 and was hoping that FIFA2000 would be better. I am glad I didn't sell my old FIFA. The graphics are not that better. It is harder to regulate the options of the game. Controlling the ball is harder. And probably most importantly for me, it is not even close to reality. Excuse me, if you are a Lebanese, but how could Lebanon win the World Cup? Or Australia? Also, the UEFA Champions League is not composed of the teams that participated in the tournament that year. ... Well, at the end, I should give some credit to the music selection. Really good music!
Now that FIFA2000 has disappointed me, I am really hoping FIFA2001 is better. |
