McGRATH VS. PASTRANA offers three unique game modes. The first mode is a straight racing game wherein the goal is to finish first. The second is the Freestyle mode, in which you receive points for pulling off tricks and combos. The two come together to create the Combo mode, in which you get points for both finishing and for tricks. These three options give the game a fair amount of diversity and replay value. The racing environments are bright and fully detailed, with a surprising number of textures. Essential to a racing game is the framerate, and FREESTYLE MOTOCROSS manages to stay at a steady clip and provides a good feeling of speed. Not only do you race on real dirt bike tracks, but you also get to race in fantasy areas like an Old West town, a glacier, and more. And you can always take on a friend in the Versus mode and find out who is king of the dirt bike hill.
